The Spine
The centrepiece of your back is the spinal column, known simply as 'the spine'. Your spine is also your pathway to good health. It not only supports your upper body's weight, it also houses and protects your spinal cord. The spine is the pillar of the human body — the delicate nervous system structure that carries signals that control your body's movements and convey its sensations.

Your spine also serves as a point of attachment for the ribs, pelvis and muscles of the back. The spinal column is made up of more than 30 bones — the vertebrae.
The spinal column contains 5 regions. Starting at the top of the head and working down the back these regions are:

- seven neck (cervical) vertebrae (C1 to C7)
- twelve mid back (thoracic) vertebrae (T1 to T12)
- five lower back (lumbar) vertebrae (L1 to L5)
- the sacrum, which makes up part of the pelvis
- the coccyx (tail bone) at the base of the sacrum

The spinal cord is a cylindrical nervous structure which occupies the vertebral canal, a cavity extending the length of the vertebral column. The spinal cord is comprised primarily of nerve cell bodies and their associated fibres that process and transmit sensory information to the brain and motor information from the brain.

An unhealthy spine can be the source of many diseases for anyone.

MIGUN therapy was designed with the health of the spine as one of the most important considerations.
